The Affordable Care Act Raises Premium Rates.

Published on November 5, 2014

Health insurance premiums both before the Affordable Care Act was put into place and afterwards were compared in a recent study. It was found that there has clearly been an increase in premium rates. The degree of increase varied depending on age and sex. This comparison looked at men and women ages 23, 30, and 63. All groups had an increase in their monthly premiums. I have attached a link to this article where you can look at their comparison charts: http://www.medicaldaily.com/aca-raises-premium-rates-younger-enrollees-78-some-groups-308526

The article mentioned that there are two things to keep in mind. Some people now receive subsidies which help with their health insurance costs. Another thing to consider is that Obamacare prohibits health insurance companies from rejecting applicants based on poor health whereas before Obamacare 1 in 5 applicants were rejected for insurance.
