Why does the marketplace suck? Could the marketplace get any worse?

There are plenty of ways to answer the first part to this question, but to answer the second part… Yes it could get worse. Imagine the marketplace being run by a bunch of rocks. Or the chimpanzees from your local zoo. Or maybe your least favorite high school teacher.
